PBS Route Assesment Tool
Engineering firm ARRB worked with software developers Big Cloud to build the RAT! PBS Route assessment tool for local government. I was contracted by Big Cloud to work on the UI.
Tasks
- Design the layout of information and form elements in the tool to allow users to easily add assessment data for all route elements.
- Design a set of icons for building route diagrams within the tool.
- Design a set of icons for mapping routes in Nokia maps..
- Inclusion of custom data for each route element.
- A grading system for each part of the route that fed in to an overall route grade.

Solution
The initial prototype ARRB had in place presented the route diagram horizontally, which proved difficult to manage in long/complex route paths. I turned the diagram around to work vertically and created a set of interlocking icons. The forms I created allowed for:

The project was initially launched in 2012 and updated in 2014 to include integration with Nokia maps. For this second part of the project I produced a set of map-specific icons and updated layouts and icons for the route diagram.
